What is this easier way?
1 of 7: Exploit a peculiar weakness that gro-Malog has.
2 of 7: When you talk to him and he asks if you want to challenge him, say no.
3 of 7: Then you can ask him about his nickname, thereby starting the "Origin of the Gray Prince" misc. quest.
4 of 7: After finishing that quest, talk to gro-Malog again and challenge him.
5 of 7: Proceed as before until you and he are facing off in the Arena.
6 of 7: This time, gro-Malog will run up to you and *not* attack, but just beg you to kill him.
7 of 7: Keep slashing him until he goes down. Easy!
