The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
Where in this game am I going to find a lion?
1 of 6: A mountain lion's pelt will do.
2 of 6: If you're at least level 12, you can find mountain lions roaming randomly around in plains, mountains, and highlands regions. They'll also appear in some critter lairs.
3 of 6: If you haven't done Azzan's first Fighters Guild quest yet, you could go do that to get several lion pelts no matter what level you are.
4 of 6: Or you could go find the dead mountain lion that's lyin' around a ways NW of Fort Ash (location 26 on the Great Forest map). Note that if an Oblivion gate is open nearby, the lion will be in the grass just north of it.
5 of 6: You don't actually have to find a lion to get a lion's pelt. You can randomly find them in counters in certain areas.
