The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

Resist Magic

  • 1 of 13: A 100% Resist Magic is a much more useful effect in Oblivion than in Morrowind since it protects against *all* forms of magical attack, including elemental magic. Fortunately, if you make your character a Breton, it's fairly easy to get your Resist Magic up to 100%.
  • 2 of 13: Making your character a Breton gets you a constant 50% Resist Magic. Orcs get a constant 25%.
  • 3 of 13: The Mundane Ring has a 50% Resist Magic effect on it. You have a small chance of getting one from various NPCs and treasure containers once you're level 20, but the surest way to get one is to reach level 22 and then do the Main Quest called "The Path of Dawn." Raven Camoran will have one that you can take after you kill him. If you miss it then, be sure to get one during the "Paradise" main quest.
  • 4 of 13: The Ayleid Crown of Lindai that you can get on the Imperial City misc. quest "Secrets of the Ayleids" will have a 35% Resist Magic effect on it if you're at least level 25 when you get it.
  • 5 of 13: The Savior's Hide armor from Hircine's Daedric Shrine Quest has a 25% Resist Magic effect on it.
  • 6 of 13: If you have the Shivering Isles expansion installed, you'll get a Diadem of Euphoria from Thadon at some point on the main quest series. It'll have a 20% Resist Magic if you're level 30 or above.
  • 7 of 13: Once you're level 17, you can get top-quality sigil stones from Oblivion Worlds, some of which will let you enchant an item with 20% Resist Magic.
  • 8 of 13: The Black Band ring that's given as a bonus reward for an early Dark Brotherhood quest can have up to 18% Resist Magic on it, but you'd have to be at least level 30 when you got the ring for it to be that good.
  • 9 of 13: The Ring of the Vipereye that you get as a reward for doing the Bruma misc. quest "Lifting the Vale" can have up to a 15% Resist Magic effect on it, but you'd have to be level 25 or higher for it to be that good.
  • 10 of 13: If you have the "Mehrunes' Razor" DLC module installed, you can get the Spellturn Cloak from Frathen Drothan. It'll have a 15% Resist Magic on it if you're level 20 or higher when you get it.
  • 11 of 13: If you do the Shivering Isles misc. quest "Everything In Its Place," you'll get the Ring of Mind Shielding, which will have a 12% Resist Magic effect for level 25 and higher characters.
  • 12 of 13: The cuirass part of the Imperial Dragon armor that you get as your final Main Quest reward has an 11% Resist Magic effect on it.
  • 13 of 13: The rest of the Resist Magic items are all random and leveled with no sure way of getting them.
