The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
Manheim Maulhand
1 of 7: He runs the Inn of Ill Omen (location 52 on the Great Forest map).
2 of 7: I don't know why, but he'll buy stolen goods from you at any time, even if you're not a Thieves Guild member. He doesn't seem to be affiliated with them in any way.
3 of 7: Also, his Mercantile skill is 30 -- merely half that of the lowest-ranking Thieves Guild fence. That means you can use a much higher "haggle" setting with Maulhand and get more money for stuff than you could with a fence guy.
4 of 7: However, there are a few disadvantages to dealing with him, starting with the fact that selling him stolen goods won't get you any credit with the Thieves Guild.
5 of 7: Also, his starting gold limit is 50, and he'll only buy potions and ingredients at first.
6 of 7: To get his gold limit up to 550, make the Charm/Fortify Mercantile spell mentioned in the Spellmaking Tips and use it on him so you can invest 500 gold in his shop. (That spell also lets you use a *really* high "haggle" setting.)
7 of 7: To get him to buy any type of item from you, get your unenhanced Mercantile skill up to 50 via practice and/or training. (Just using the spell mentioned above doesn't get you that skill perk for some reason.)
