The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

Fort Linchal Boss

  • 1 of 11: One of the easiest places in the game to reach a "boss" necromancer and his treasure chests is in Fort Linchal (location 8 on the Colovian Highlands map).
  • 2 of 11: When you enter the fort, move forward and take a right to find a door to the Hall of Knights section.
  • 3 of 11: In the hall, go forward and through a door to reach the room with the Necromancer Adept.
  • 4 of 11: One of the treasure chests that might have good "boss" loot in it is up on a pedestal next to a statue in the center of the room.
  • 5 of 11: The other chest is up some stairs and to the left. (The third chest up there never has more than a potion or two.)
  • 6 of 11: The best way to manage this is to have a good Chameleon effect on you and sneak over to the door to the Hall of Knights.
  • 7 of 11: Then do a quicksave before you enter the hall, since entering will cause the treasure on the adept guy and in the chests to be set.
  • 8 of 11: If you're sneaky enough, you can raid the treasure chests and pickpocket the adept without being detected.
  • 9 of 11: If you don't get something you think is worthwhile, do a quickrestore and try again.
  • 10 of 11: NOTE: If you're at least level 5, there's a 10% chance that the adept will have an empty black soul gem in his inventory. You might want to keep quickrestoring and trying again until you can get a black soul gem from him. (Then kill and soul-trap any necromancer to fill the gem.)
  • 11 of 11: And since the Hall of Knights section respawns every few days, you can keep coming back for more black soul gems and other good stuff!
