Brother Martin Tips
of 7: To take best advantage of Martin's help, be wearing a set of Chameleon Clothing (see the Enchanting Tips) and sneak-attacking enemies from behind while they focus on Martin.
of 7: Watch out for a spell that Martin often casts on enemies that does area-effect frost damage. If you're not immune to frost or magic in general, try to stay away from the enemy that Martin's attacking (or be ready to heal up quickly).
of 7: If Martin is injured after a combat is over and isn't healing himself, just quicksave and then quickrestore to get him to do it.
of 7: If you keep Martin with you long enough, the weapon he starts with will eventually wear out and get dropped. When that happens, drop a weapon on the ground near him (preferably a powerful enchanted blade weapon that's fully repaired and recharged) so he'll pick it up and use it.
of 7: However, he probably won't pick a weapon up unless there's a hostile around, and he may ignore a weapon you drop in favor of another one that's lying around nearby. You could try solving both of those problems by leading him to a place where there are no other weapons nearby, dropping the one you want him to take, and then casting a Frenzy spell on him. If you're not totally chameleoned, you'll have to dodge his attacks (including his frost spell) until the Frenzy spell wears off.
of 7: If you want him to hurry up and drop his weapon so you can give him a new one, you could repeatedly hit him with the Akavari Sunderblade or a Disintegrate Weapon spell (while totally chameleoned or while he's fighting something else) to quickly degrade his weapon. As mentioned above, make sure there are no weapons but the one you want him to pick up lying around before you do this.
of 7: One bad side effect of having Martin with you is that he'll usually ruin any stealth-related thing that you're trying to pull off, especially if you're not fully chameleoned. If you want to get sneak-attack damage against an enemy, sneakily loot someone's house while they're home, or anything like that, first talk to Martin and have him wait in an out-of-the-way spot where he won't be detected. (Or make an Invisibility spell that you can cast on him -- that may work with the sneak-attack routine, at least.)
