The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
Possible Shortcut
of 11: If you're very acrobatic, you can jump up to the balcony with the element of resolve on it and grab it without having to fight the minotaurs.
of 11: For you to pull this off, your Acrobatics skill will need to be at *least* 85, preferably 90 or higher.
of 11: It could be that high if you've been practicing it a lot. Also, if you have the Boots of Springheel Jak from an advanced Thieves Guild quest, and if they're still considered a quest item, that'll give you a huge +50 boost.
of 11: Save your game just outside the Test of Perception area, then run into the arena and quickly locate the balcony with the element on it.
of 11: It's on the south side of the arena, right above the entrance to the tunnel that you came in through.
of 11: Jump up onto a small ledge on one of the two large pillars on either side of the tunnel entrance, then jump onto the element's balcony.
of 11: TIP: Either jump onto the left pillar's left side, or the right pillar's right side. The left pillar's right side and the right pillar's left side don't work so well.
of 11: If you can't do that, there may still be a workable alternative.
of 11: It's much easier to jump up out of the minotaurs' reach using the six small stick-out walls spaced around the arena.
of 11: Jump up as high as you can on the southern-most of the west walls, then turn and look toward the element's balcony.
of 11: You can jump from where you are to the top of a large pillar that's between you and the balcony, and from there to the small ledge on the pillar that's to the right of the tunnel entrance. Once on that pillar, you can jump onto the balcony and grab the element.
