The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
How can I gain access to spellmaking and enchanting altars?
of 8: The main way to do so is through the Mages Guild faction.
of 8: After you join up, do all the recommendation quests, then talk to Raminus Polus to get access to the Arcane University's southern half.
of 8: Then you can go to the Praxographical Center and use its spellmaking altars to make new spells, and you can go to the Chironasium and use its enchanting altars to enchant weapons, armor, clothing, and jewelry.
of 8: Once you're the guild arch-mage, you'll also have usable spellmaking and enchanting altars in the Arch-Mage's Quarters at the top of the tower.
of 8: An alternative way to gain altar access is to install the "Wizard's Tower" DLC module.
of 8: You can upgrade Frostcrag Spire and use its spellmaking and enchanting altars without even having to join the Mages Guild.
of 8: The catch is that buying the upgrades will cost a lot of money, so see the Money-Making Tips for help with that.
of 8: The UHS hint file for "The Elder Scrolls IV: Knights of the Nine" has more info on the Wizard's Tower module.
