How can I get a free horse?
1 of 4: If you have the "Horse Armor" DLC module installed, you could get a free horse with the free armor offer, but it'd just be a slow old nag.
2 of 4: It would be better to finish the Main Quest called "Deliver the Amulet" so you can use Prior Maborel's paint horse.
3 of 4: Go get him armored up with the free horse armor, and he'll be good enough until you can get the game's ultimate horse.
4 of 4: That's Shadowmere, which you'll get for free after doing several Dark Brotherhood quests. She's unkillable, and you can even use her to store items by beating her unconscious and then transferring items from your inventory to hers (though I personally view this as cruelty to animals).
