The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

Horse Stealing Tips

  • 1 of 6: Be sure not to let anyone see you mount a horse you're stealing, or you'll get 250 gold added to your bounty.
  • 2 of 6: There are suspicious-minded workers in most stables who will follow you around closely if they know you're there, making it very difficult to steal a horse unseen.
  • 3 of 6: If you're not sneaky enough to avoid the worker's notice, cast a Frenzy spell on him, then attack him (or let a nearby guard do so) until he runs away or dies.
  • 4 of 6: NOTE: Be sure not to kill a worker after your Frenzy spell wears off or after he starts fleeing, since you'll usually get a 1,000-gold murder bounty for doing so.
  • 5 of 6: After the worker is dealt with, make sure no one else is able to see you (except the horses), then mount the horse of your choice.
  • 6 of 6: NOTE: Even if only horses can see you, you'll still get thrown out of a guild if you're a member of it and the horse you're stealing belongs to a fellow guild member.
