The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
How can I cast this spell successfully?
1 of 7: First, be *sure* to quicksave before trying -- things can go wrong, and you may have to quickrestore and try again.
2 of 7: What usually works best is to stand next to the table on one side, near the center, and cast the spell on someone who's seated near the center on the other side.
3 of 7: When choosing which side of the table to stand on, make it the one farthest away from any nearby guards.
4 of 7: That's because casting the spell is seen as a crime, and you don't want a guard catching you before you get a journal entry.
5 of 7: If one does, you'll have to resist arrest and dodge around until you get a journal entry, then yield to a guard (see the "Arts of Combat" section of the game manual).
6 of 7: When you get a journal entry, read it carefully to see whether or not the spell succeeded.
7 of 7: If not, you'll need to quickrestore and try again. Otherwise, let a guard catch you and take you to jail. (You can't pay the fine because the stupid spell took all of your possessions, including your gold.)
