The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
How can I get into the Forbidden Grotto?
of 10: Its entrance is in the Flooded Grotto, which is on the east side of the north/south river that divides up Paradise's two sections.
of 10: If you cross the river, you'll find that the slopes on the eastern side are way too steep to climb.
of 10: You can only cross at the bridge that's almost directly east from where you first appear.
of 10: When you approach that bridge, a dremora named Kathutet will walk up to you and start talking.
of 10: The gist of it is that he has a certain item you'll need in order to enter the Forbidden Grotto, and you can only get it from him by fighting him to the death or doing him a service.
of 10: Cross the bridge and enter the Flooded Grotto on the other side.
of 10: Make your way to the entrance to the Forbidden Grotto, where you'll meet up with Kathutet if you served him instead of killing him.
of 10: To be able to enter the Forbidden Grotto, you'll have to go to inventory and equip the Bands of the Chosen.
of 10: If you killed Kathutet earlier, you should have gotten the bands off his corpse. If you served him, you can talk to him now to get the bands as a reward.
of 10: The bands are cursed with a Weakness to Fire 50% effect and can't be taken back off (by you), but you'll still need to wear them in order to get through the door to the Forbidden Grotto.
