The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

Combat Tips

  • 1 of 11: First off, note that it helps hugely to have high percentages of Resist Magic, Reflect Spell, and/or Spell Absorption during this battle. See the Constant Effect Item Lists for more info.
  • 2 of 11: The obvious tactic is to charge Mankar and start attacking him as soon as you enter Carac Agaialor.
  • 3 of 11: Unfortunately, that will mean you'll be fighting all three Camorans at once. Even with Eldamil's help, that can be very tough.
  • 4 of 11: You could concentrate on Mankar, since killing him will automatically kill the other two at the same time.
  • 5 of 11: A much better strategy has you starting on the offense before you enter Carac Agaialor.
  • 6 of 11: After Ruma goes inside, quickly turn on Raven and kill him.
  • 7 of 11: Loot his body to get his inappropriately named "Mundane Ring," which has Reflect Spell 35% and Resist Magic 50% on it. That's bound to come in handy if you haven't already gotten an identical ring from Raven in an earlier quest. (NOTE: The ring is actually leveled treasure, and you'll get something lesser if you're under level 22.)
  • 8 of 11: In fact, you can get more magic rings by waiting around outside for Raven to respawn (he'll do so right next to the Carac Agaialor entrance door) and killing him again. However, you can only wear one of that type of ring at a time, and no merchant has enough money to buy them from you at anywhere near their real value.
  • 9 of 11: When you're done outside, go inside and quickly beat up on Ruma and raid her body.
  • 10 of 11: Ruma has a magic staff, but nothing really special -- however, you could kill both her and Raven outside and let them both keep respawning if you wanted to. (An extra benefit of doing so is that if they're killed and left outside, there's very little chance that they'll go inside and attack you after respawning.)
  • 11 of 11: Mankar should be easy enough to take down if you have Eldamil with you and have already disposed of both of his kids, but watch out for his spell reflection and damage reflection abilities.
