The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
Clothing Item Tips
1 of 7: First off, I advise you to not use any jewelry items. There are a *lot* of great artifact rings and amulets that you'll want to have equipped at the same time as your shield clothing.
2 of 7: There's no such thing as gloves in this game, so if you want to have something on your hands that won't interfere with spell effectiveness, use wrist irons. Unfortunately, those are very rare items.
3 of 7: There are some types of clothing that are weightless, and would therefore be ideal for making shield clothing out of.
4 of 7: For instance, you could do the Anvil misc. quest "The Siren's Deception" and get Ernest's weightless shirt and pants from the Gweden Farm basement. (Heinrich's shirt down there is also weightless.)
5 of 7: There's no such thing as weightless shoes, but you'll get a pair of one-pound shoes whenever you choose to go to jail after being arrested. They're lighter than most of the shoes in the game.
6 of 7: If you use the above-mentioned wrist irons, shirt, pants, and shoes, that'll be all the items you need to make your shield clothing. However, if you want a weightless hood for some reason (like if you can't find any wrist irons), steal the mage's hood that's on a counter in the "Rindir's Staffs" shop in the Imperial City's Market District.
7 of 7: You can also get weightless hoods from the Imperial battlemage guards in the Imperial City's Arcane University area. See the Fun With Guards tips to learn of a good way to get them killed.
