The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

Fingers of the Mountain, Part II

  • 1 of 13: Earana says to steal the book back from Teekeeus and give it to her.
  • 2 of 13: As soon as you gave him the book, he headed upstairs to put it in the chest in his room in the Living Quarters area (which is accessible via the Library area).
  • 3 of 13: Teekeeus' room is the one behind the locked door.
  • 4 of 13: TIP: If you follow Teekeeus up to his room right after giving him the book, you won't have to lockpick his door.
  • 5 of 13: Take the book from the chest and go give it to Earana.
  • 6 of 13: She'll say to talk to her the next day to find out what she's learned.
  • 7 of 13: Wait until after 12 am, then talk to Earana again to get her notes on the book.
  • 8 of 13: Read them over to learn that you need to return to Cloud Top with a Welkynd stone and a Shock spell.
  • 9 of 13: You can buy a Shock spell from some Mages Guild spell sellers if you need one. (I got mine from Volanaro in the Bruma Mages Guild.) Or you can use a scroll that casts a Shock spell if you can find one in random treasure.
  • 10 of 13: When you have all you need, go back to Cloud Top and cast your Shock spell on the broken-off pillar that the charred remains are next to.
  • 11 of 13: Of course, those remains are charred for a reason. When you cast a Shock spell on the pillar, you'll be badly shocked yourself (and so will anyone or anything else nearby).
  • 12 of 13: If you can survive it via Fortify Health, Resist Shock, or whatever, you'll gain a new lightning spell called Finger of the Mountain.
  • 13 of 13: NOTE: Finger of the Mountain is a leveled spell that gets *way* out of hand for high-level characters. I once got it when I was level 25, and it required over 1200 magic points to cast, even with a fairly high Destruction skill! Needless to say, that was completely useless to me. It's best to get the spell when you're much lower-level. (Either that, or get your Destruction skill and Intelligence both up to 100, then find or make some constant-effect items that fortify your magicka when worn.)
