The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

Non-Duplicable Items Tip

  • 1 of 5: With constant-effect items that can't be duplicated, you may still be able to get their effects on you permanently by using a different process.
  • 2 of 5: See the Spellmaking Tips if you don't yet know how to create permanent bound armor items.
  • 3 of 5: The process is as follows, using a fictional non-duplicable magic shield called Shield of the Undented as an example item:

    1) Cast the Bound Shield spell to get a temporary bound shield.
    2) Make the bound shield droppable by damaging and repairing it.
    3) Drop it and all other unenchanted bound shields that you have.
    4) Equip the Shield of the Undented.
    5) Quicksave and then quickrestore.
    6) Wait for the Bound Shield spell to wear off.
  • 4 of 5: After step 6 is complete, the Shield of the Undented's effects should be on you permanently, and the shield should be unequippable.
  • 5 of 5: This process will work with most non-duplicable shields, though there will be some exceptions. When you use the process with non-shield armor items, the constant effects will probably be on you at first, but will disappear the next time you fast-travel. (Or they may just disappear from your spell effects list, but still be active. Remember, this is a glitch.)
