The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
How can I get to that letter?
of 11: You could go into Anvil Castle and up the stairs in the back to find the locked door to the Private Quarters, where the steward's office is.
of 11: However, it can be very hard to get into the Private Quarters and then the steward's office (SE room) without being seen by any of the guards.
of 11: So instead, start by finding a beggar in the city and asking him about Dairihill's office.
of 11: You'll learn that the castle blacksmith might know of a secret way to get there.
of 11: Enter Anvil Castle and find the door that leads to the smithy.
of 11: Talk to Orrin and then follow him to a secret door that he'll open for you.
of 11: Follow the passage along to reach a locked door to the Private Quarters area.
of 11: Go through it and up some stairs to reach a wall that simply must have a secret door in it.
of 11: Use the movable pillar on the left to open it.
of 11: Go through this secret door and turn left to find the locked door to the steward's office. (If anyone is in there, retreat or restore a save and come back and try later, preferably at night.)
of 11: Unlock Dairihill's desk and take the list of candidates from it, then sneak back out the way you came.
