Sneaking Tips
of 6: Having a high Sneak skill can help a lot with sneakily stealing stuff, as can having a good Chameleon or Invisibility spell on you.
of 6: Don't forget the basic rules of sneakery: go into Sneak mode, walk instead of running, wear nothing on your feet, stick to the shadows, and don't have a torch out or a Light spell in effect (Night-Eye is okay).
of 6: Two things that can help you keep track of nearby people and creatures while you're sneaking around are third-person view and the Detect Life spell. In third-person mode, you can rotate your view to see around corners. With Detect Life on, you can see purplish auras indicating what direction living things are in.
of 6: You can build up your Sneak skill quite a bit at the very beginning of the game (see the Main Quest called "Tutorial"), plus later on by sneaking around in people's bedrooms while they're asleep.
of 6: As for a good Chameleon spell, you can get an artifact ring with a constant Chameleon effect of 35% by doing Meridia's Daedric Shrine Quest.
of 6: See the Enchanting Tips for details on how to make yourself a set of "Chameleon Clothing" that will give you a 100% or more Chameleon when worn.
