The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
Liberation or Apprehension?
of 12: After Polus promotes you to Magician and refers you to Traven, talk to Traven about "Tasks" and all the following dialogue topics.
of 12: You're to go to Nenyond Twyll (location 45 on the Great Forest map) and see if you can get the mages' spy among the necromancers safely back to the Arcane University.
of 12: As soon as you enter the ruins, move forward a short distance to find Fithragaer, the last surviving battlemage from the group sent in earlier.
of 12: He'll run off after he's through talking, but don't follow him too closely or you'll get caught in the same "ceiling slam" trap that unavoidably kills him.
of 12: Once you're past the trap, explore onward and kill all the necromancers and undead that you come across until you reach a door to the Riellesel area.
of 12: Just past that door, you'll meet Mariette Rielle. She'll talk to you a bit and then attack, so treat her like you would any other necromancer.
of 12: Just past her is a truly colossal room that's partly underwater.
of 12: To get to what's left of the informant, search the NW wall for a push block.
of 12: Use it to open up a nearby secret door so you can find the undead version of Mucianus Allias stumbling around.
of 12: Click on him to get a journal entry, then return to the colossal chamber and use the door near its NW corner to get back to the main Nenyond Twyll section.
of 12: If you use the new door leading back to Nenyond Twyll instead of going back the way you came, you'll get a bit more combat and loot, and you'll have to step on a pressure plate on the floor to open up some secret doors.
of 12: Leave the ruins and report back to Traven at the university to finish the quest.
