The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

Malacath

  • 1 of 13: Malacath's shrine is at location 23 on the Gold Coast map.
  • 2 of 13: You'll have to be at least level 10 to get this quest.
  • 3 of 13: Talk to Shobob gro-Rugdush about "Shrine of Malacath" after getting his disposition up to 50, then say that you will approach the shrine.
  • 4 of 13: He'll tell you that you'll need a portion of troll fat in order to get Malacath to listen to you.
  • 5 of 13: When you hand the troll fat over to the statue, Malacath will tell you to go to Lord Drad's estate (location 19 on the Gold Coast map) and see about freeing the ogres there.
  • 6 of 13: Talk to Lord Drad in his estate house about the ogre slaves, then say you admire his efforts in order to keep him talking.
  • 7 of 13: He'll let slip the fact that the ogres are being forced to work in the Bleak Mine, which is just east of the estate grounds.
  • 8 of 13: Before you go, you might want to steal the key to the mine door from a small table on the lower floor of the estate house. Otherwise you'll have to pick the lock on the mine door.
  • 9 of 13: In the mine, you could try to sneak around and pick the locks on all the ogres' cages, but it's much easier to kill off all the dark elf guards and take their keys if you're not gifted in the stealth skills.
  • 10 of 13: Once all of the guards are dead, free the ogres by opening both of their cages.
  • 11 of 13: Then go check out Lord Drad's estate. He's being forced to work the fields for his new ogre bosses!
  • 12 of 13: TIP: Looting the estate house is fun and easy now that no one's in it.
  • 13 of 13: When you report back to the Malacath statue, it'll reward you with a powerful two-handed blunt weapon called Volendrung. (And unlike the Volendrung in Morrowind, this one comes with some enchantments on it, namely Drain Health 5 points for 20 seconds and Paralyze for 3 seconds.)
