Spell Finding
You can buy any spell at any time as long as you have the money, but you can't cast it or use it in spellmaking or enchanting if your skill level is too low. That's why I made this list of cheapest-available spells -- so you can use it to find the lowest-level spell available for any spell type in the game. Each spell type entry in the list tells who sells the cheapest spell of that type, what level of which skill is required to use the spell, and how it can be used in spellmaking and enchanting (if your skill is high enough).
NOTES
* You don't need to buy spells with the same types as any of your powers or birthsign effects. That includes powers gained from Doomstones, so I list those whenever they can get you a spell effect that no one sells a novice-level spell for.
* To find a seller, go to the city listed by his name (IC means Imperial City) and check the Mages Guild building unless there's an abbreviation after the city name. MD = Market District's "Mystic Emporium", ED = Market District's "Edgar's Discount Spells", CH = local chapel, WL = "A Warlock's Luck", DB = Dark Brotherhood sanctuary.
* If a seller has more than one spell with the spell type you're after, buy the one that requires the least magicka to cast.
* In the "Usage" column, an S means the spell can be used in spellmaking, an Ew means it can be used for enchanting a weapon, and an Ec means it can be used for enchanting clothing, armor, and jewelry.
* BMR means "base magicka required," which is the number of magicka points you'd have to have in order to cast the spell if your related skill was zero. (The number of actual required magicka points will be lower as your skill goes up.)
