The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

What if I can't pickpocket him successfully?

  • 1 of 14: Then you'll need to go for that secret passage that the beggars mentioned.
  • 2 of 14: Enter Castle Skingrad's County Hall and head up the stairs in the back.
  • 3 of 14: Sneakily pick the lock on the door to the Lord's Manor North Wing, and then on the first wooden door on the left after you enter the North Wing.
  • 4 of 14: Those are Fathis Aren's quarters, so look around for the Arrow of Extrication.
  • 5 of 14: Lockpick and search the two treasure chests along the west wall to get a journal entry.
  • 6 of 14: Then look around the archway-shaped niche in the middle of the north wall.
  • 7 of 14: Click on the movable pillar to the right of the archway to open up a secret area that has a locked door in it.
  • 8 of 14: Go through it to get to the Wizard's Grotto area.
  • 9 of 14: When you come to two locked gates, pick the lock on the north one and go through it.
  • 10 of 14: Then take either passage branch to get to a spot a ways to the east where there's a long underwater tunnel leading straight down. You'll know you're at the right spot if you see a slaughterfish or two swimming around near the water's surface.
  • 11 of 14: Don't follow the vertical tunnel all the way down unless you want to kill a special giant slaughterfish to get its treasure.
  • 12 of 14: Instead, dive down only a short ways and find the underwater tunnel leading north. (You can see the tunnel on your local area map, and can adjust your descent accordingly.)
  • 13 of 14: Go along the tunnel to soon reach the surface of the water again, then follow the winding passageways east to a door leading to the Bravil Wizard's Lair.
  • 14 of 14: In the lair, go east and around until you find the door that leads to Fathis Aren's tower.
