The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
Step 6: Get the Elder Scroll
1 of 6: Go through the newly opened door to reach the nicely furnished viewing room.
2 of 6: The Gray Fox's instructions say to sit down in the chair assigned to visitors to the library, so that's your next step.
3 of 6: Sit on the reading chair that's next to the large round stone table with the fire in its center.
4 of 6: NOTE: The game won't let you sit in the chair if there are any enemies nearby (like guards who've seen you), so you'll have to either go finish off those enemies or move ahead on the escape route far enough that they're not counted as "nearby" anymore, and then return to the library.
5 of 6: Wait until one of the priests leaves an Elder Scroll parchment on the table in front of you, then pick it up.
6 of 6: TIP: After getting the scroll, you can just casually stroll around and steal anything you want to from the ground-floor bookshelves without even sneaking.
