The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
Natural Caverns
of 14: After passing a barrel and box with cheap junk in them, you'll come to a spot where the game asks you to practice sneaking.
of 14: There's a goblin near the rat-roast up ahead, and you can try to sneak up on him or sneak by him.
of 14: This is a great place to practice several skills, especially Sneak.
of 14: When you're ready to kill the goblin, sneak over to where you can shoot him in the back with an arrow or spell, then switch to a sword to finish him off. (After letting him beat on you for awhile if you want to -- see the above skill-practicing tips.)
of 14: Raid his campfire area for supplies, including a novice mortar & pestle, which you can use to make a few potions out of the ingredients you've collected so far.
of 14: Quicksave before moving on, because if you run straight into the next goblin's room while keeping to the left, you can trigger a trap that might kill him for you. (If it misses him or hits you, quickrestore and try again.)
of 14: When you come to a campfire with a dead rat next to it (trying to warm up, no doubt), look in a corner over to the left for a table with some treasure on it.
of 14: The next passage has a pile of logs at the top of a slope that you can push to crush any goblins that are on the slope.
of 14: To take full advantage of this deadly trap, you could run on into the large cave further on with the big pit in the middle and lure all of those goblins (including a zappy witch) to where you can crush them all with the log trap.
of 14: However, that's very hard to do, so it'd probably be better to crush only the two nearby goblins with the logs, then sneak carefully into the big cave and get one goblin's attention at a time (perhaps via sniping with the bow) and lead him back into the tunnel to whack him.
of 14: With the witch herself, also lead her back to the tunnel, but don't expect her to enter it. Instead, use the twisty nature of the tunnel to take cover and pull back an arrow, then strafe out of cover just long enough to shoot the witch. Repeat until she's dead.
of 14: Raid the witch's body for goods, then search around the cave for more treasure. Be sure not to skip the treasure chest in the witch's area (near her bone-filled cauldron).
of 14: When you're ready to move on, find the hard-to-see passage that's near the witch's cauldron.
of 14: You'll find one last treasure chest near the door to the Imperial Subterrane region.
