Following a Lead

  • 1 of 15: Lachance said to go to your next dead drop location and see who shows up to leave false orders.
  • 2 of 15: Use the Lucky Old Lady statue for a long-lasting Luck boost if you want to, then travel to Anvil.
  • 3 of 15: Find the barrel that's near the big statue and pond that are a ways east of the main gate.
  • 4 of 15: You don't have to sneak -- just stand near the barrel and wait until Enilroth shows up.
  • 5 of 15: Talk to him to learn that some robed man who's living in the lighthouse cellar is behind all the false orders.
  • 6 of 15: Travel to the Anvil Lighthouse area and follow the quest arrow to find Ulfgar Fog-Eye.
  • 7 of 15: When you talk to him, demand the key to the cellar *now!* That'll get it the quickest.
  • 8 of 15: Go back outside and find the door to the cellar on the south side of the lighthouse structure.
  • 9 of 15: Pick open the locked door in the cellar to find the area where a mother's head is enshrined (kind of like in the second "Friday the 13th" movie).
  • 10 of 15: There's a diary on a nearby table that makes it clear that the traitor is trying to get revenge on Lachance and the Night Mother herself for the murder of his own mother.
  • 11 of 15: After reading the diary, take the mother's head from the shrine and travel to the Applewatch farm where you killed Perennia Draconis earlier.
  • 12 of 15: When you enter the farmhouse, you'll find that the surviving Black Hand members have already arrived and killed Lachance.
  • 13 of 15: Arquen will promote you to Speaker and say that the Night Mother must be consulted about a replacement Listener.
  • 14 of 15: To get a big clue as to who the real traitor is, drop the mother's head you got from the lighthouse cellar on the floor where everyone can see it, then speak to everyone to see who recognizes it and stutters. (But don't attack him now.)
  • 15 of 15: After the next midnight comes around, talk to Arquen about "Night Mother" and say that you're ready to go in order to finish this quest and start the final one.
