The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
How can I get a bunch of rats to come here?
of 10: Ask Ri'Bassa about Border Watch to get two big clues.
of 10: He says that the smell of their evening cooking fires travels for miles, and S'thasa in the inn has a prize cheese collection.
of 10: Ask S'thasa about cheese to learn that her rare Olroy cheese would draw rats from miles around if it were taken out of its display case and cooked.
of 10: The cheese you need is in the blue-lined display case near the inn's exit door, but the case is locked and only S'thasa has the key.
of 10: You'll either have to pickpocket the key from her or sneakily pick the case's lock.
of 10: TIP: If you come to the inn after 10 pm, it should be deserted, making the lockpicking and cheese-snatching much easier to do undetected. Also, if S'thasa is asleep on her mat behind the counter, it's easier to pickpocket the key from her then.
of 10: Click on the small cooking pot that's over a fire just outside the inn and choose to put the Olroy cheese in it.
of 10: Wait and watch to the east for a bunch of rats to show up and run for the pot.
of 10: When they arrive, Ri'Bassa should drop a couple of large chunks of rat poison near them. (If he's inside a building, you may have to enter it in order to get him going.)
of 10: After you get a journal entry, move around next to Ri'Bassa until he initiates conversation and confirms that he believes this "sign" of the prophecy.
