The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
A Brotherhood Betrayed
of 24: Ask around about rumors until you learn of this quest, or enter Bradon Lirrian's house (west of the Great Chapel of Talos) and talk to Carius Runellius.
of 24: Get Runellius' disposition up to 70 and ask about Raynil Dralas to learn what happened here.
of 24: Talk to Erline Lirrian, who should be sitting over in the corner, to learn that she doesn't believe her dead husband was ever a vampire.
of 24: She'll say that Dralas looked familiar to her and will ask you to help clear her husband's good name.
of 24: Runellius is confident that Dralas is a genuine vampire-hunter and did the right thing, so it's up to you to find Dralas and see if you can prove otherwise.
of 24: Ask around town about Dralas to find out where he's staying.
of 24: The most obvious thing to do is go to the various inns and ask the proprietors.
of 24: Hafid Hollowleg at the nearby Jerall View Inn will tell you that Dralas is staying at Olav's Tap and Tack.
of 24: Talk to Olav after getting his disposition up to 70 to learn where Dralas' room is and get a key to it.
of 24: Go upstairs and open the door that requires a key.
of 24: Dralas is long gone, but he left behind a telling journal.
of 24: It's on the floor, half-hidden behind the drawers that are near the door.
of 24: The journal says that Dralas and Lirrian were members of a three-man adventuring team that found an Ayleid artifact and stored it in a three-key chest in a cave, with each of the men taking one key.
of 24: So is Dralas killing the others in order to get their keys, making them look like vampires so he can get away with it?
of 24: Talk to Olav about Gelebourne to learn that he was indeed Dralas' first "vampire" victim! You'd better to tell Runellius about this.
of 24: When you give him Gelebourne's journal as evidence, he says to meet him at Olav's in an hour.
of 24: Return to Olav's Tap and Tack and wait an hour.
of 24: You'll learn that Dralas has been seen near Boreal Stone Cave (location 5 on the Jerall and Valus Mountains map), which is where he and the rest of his "brotherhood" undoubtedly hid the chest with the Ayleid artifact.
of 24: As Runellius states, you have only about a day to get there and find Dralas before he can escape with the artifact, so you'd better start out right away.
of 24: You'll find Dralas in the cave's first room, and he'll attack you after talking to you a bit.
of 24: Kill him and get the keys from his body, then open the waterlogged chest that's half-submerged in the water nearby.
of 24: Get the worthless-looking amulet from the chest and return to Bruma.
of 24: You can report in to Runellius if you want, but it's much more useful to return to Lirrian's house and talk to Erline.
of 24: Ask her about the amulet to get her to convert it into the Phylactery of Litheness.
