The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

Whom Gods Annoy

  • 1 of 15: Either ask around town about rumors until you hear about this one, or go to Rosentia Gallenus' house and talk to her.
  • 2 of 15: You'll learn that she bought a cursed Daedric staff that she can't get rid of, and that causes several Scamps to follow her everywhere.
  • 3 of 15: She refers you to Alves Uvenim in the local Mages Guild, so go talk to her about the staff.
  • 4 of 15: You'll learn that Rosentia can only give it to a willing receiver (you), and that you can get rid of it at a Sheogorath shrine in the nearby Darkfathom Cave (location 16 on the Blackwood map).
  • 5 of 15: Return to Rosentia and talk to her to accept the staff from her.
  • 6 of 15: You now have four ever-respawning Everscamps following you around. You don't even have to equip or use the Staff of Everscamp to keep them with you.
  • 7 of 15: Despite the 20-point Speed drain incurred by having the staff, you may want to keep it for awhile to take advantage of the Scamps' presence.
  • 8 of 15: However, note that they won't attack an enemy until the enemy attacks them, and they don't have many hit points. Their combat uses are therefore extremely limited, but you can always use them to raise your weapon, armor, and magic skills. (Attack them and let them attack you in return.)
  • 9 of 15: When you're ready to ditch them for good, head over to Darkfathom Cave.
  • 10 of 15: Inside the cave, take the south tunnel to get to a room with a large pit in its center.
  • 11 of 15: Drop down into the pit and take the east tunnel.
  • 12 of 15: A short ways past that, take the east tunnel branch to reach the shrine area.
  • 13 of 15: Move toward the shrine until you get a message saying you no longer feel the need to hold on to the staff.
  • 14 of 15: Go to inventory and drop the Staff of Everscamp, then return to Rosentia for your reward of the Ring of Eidolon's Edge.
  • 15 of 15: NOTE: You can return to the shrine area in Darkfathom Cave and practice your skills on the Everscamps any time you want to, without even having to pick up the staff again.
