The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

When the Vow Breaks

  • 1 of 10: Go to the Whitmond farm (location 2 on the Gold Coast map) and talk to Maeva the Buxom about her husband.
  • 2 of 10: She tells you that he took a magic mace that's a family heirloom and ran off to join the marauders at Fort Strand (location 6 on the map).
  • 3 of 10: It's up to you to invade the fort and get the mace back.
  • 4 of 10: Inside the fort, move forward until you reach a path split.
  • 5 of 10: Both routes lead to a door to the Great Dome area. Take the left (NW) path if you want to get there quicker and with less combat.
  • 6 of 10: If you took the left path to the Great Dome, drop down to the lower floor in the room with the weak bridge, then take the passage down there to find Bjalfi the Contemptible. If you took the right path instead, just follow the winding corridor along until you get to Bjalfi's room.
  • 7 of 10: After you kill him and his nearby bandit buddies, search Bjalfi's body to find Rockshatter, the heirloom mace that Maeva wants back.
  • 8 of 10: It's a magic shock-damage mace, so you might want to keep it and use it for awhile.
  • 9 of 10: When you return it to Maeva, she'll give you some gold. (Probably far less than Rockshatter is worth.)
  • 10 of 10: If you later decide you want the mace back, you can kill her for it or pickpocket it back from her when she's sitting down or in bed.
