Is there a way to get around the gate without opening it?
1 of 10: You could just run around the gate structure, taking a little lava damage as you go.
2 of 10: Or you can take a whole 'nother route.
3 of 10: To start on that path, head west from the Oblivion gate area.
4 of 10: When you come to a long, skinny bridge that goes north across a large chasm, don't use it.
5 of 10: Instead, drop carefully down to the lowest ground beneath the south end of that bridge.
6 of 10: You'll find two fleshy pods to raid for cheap treasure, plus a door to the Caverns of the Abused.
7 of 10: There are several more pods to raid in the cavern, plus an exit to the Blood Well tower.
8 of 10: Ride the Blood Well's "corpse masher" up, then find the nearby door that leads outside.
9 of 10: NOTE: You could go up the curvy ramp to the tower's top floor and hit a big lever to open the gates, but that's not needed on this route. Only go to the top of the tower if you want to use a blood fountain and raid a cheap treasure container.
10 of 10: After you go through the door that leads outside, you can go across an intact bridge to reach the main citadel.
