The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

Leaning Tower Notes

  • 1 of 10: To enter the leaning tower, you'll have to first find the entrance to the Fume Vaults.
  • 2 of 10: Make your way to the southern portion of the vaults to find the door that leads to the leaning tower, which is called Embers of Hatred.
  • 3 of 10: WARNING: Don't fall into the hole in the floor in the vaults' SW corner room. There's a treasure pod down there, but unless you have the Water Walking spell and a *very* high Acrobatics skill, there's no way you could jump back out. The pod doesn't even contain super-great treasure, so it's not worth the trouble in any case.
  • 4 of 10: In the first tower area, you'll find two special dremora called Dremora Hatred Keepers.
  • 5 of 10: After killing and looting them, find the door to the Halls of Dark Hate. (One of the Hatred Keepers' keys will open it.)
  • 6 of 10: Explore those hateful halls to find some health and magicka restorers, plus a door leading back to the Embers of Hatred at the top of the ramps. (This door is opened by the other Hatred Keeper's key.)
  • 7 of 10: Go up either ramp to reach a teleporter pad that will take you up to the area with two red treasure containers that have two very powerful Hatred-brand artifacts in them.
  • 8 of 10: The artifacts are leveled, and you won't get the best versions of them unless you're level 19 or higher. If you are, both the bow and mace will do 35 points of fire damage and drain the target's speed by 30 points for 45 seconds. Burn your enemies hard and make them move in slow motion at the same time! (The slo-mo effect works best on creatures like daedroth and xivilai.)
  • 9 of 10: After you get the goods, leave by going back the way you came.
  • 10 of 10: NOTE: Once you make the jump back across that narrow-lava area near the leaning tower, you'll have to get back up onto the path and then find a jutting cement protrusion to use in getting back over to the other side of the small broken bridge (since you can't cross it in that direction).
