The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

How can I cross using the smaller citadels?

  • 1 of 12: Enter either one of them and make your way up to the top section, which will be called the Anguish Shrine or the Sorrow Shrine, depending on which citadel you chose.
  • 2 of 12: NOTE: These citadels are similar to the main sigil stone ones in that you have to duck in and out of side areas in order to move up the citadel tower.
  • 3 of 12: In the shrine, go up a red spiky ramp and look around for a large lever called a "geared batten" that you can use.
  • 4 of 12: You'll get the message that lock one of two has been released.
  • 5 of 12: Guess what? The other lock can only be released from inside the shrine at the top of the other small citadel.
  • 6 of 12: Fortunately, there's a shortcut in getting there.
  • 7 of 12: Go back down the red spiky ramps and find the door that leads out to the Wastes of Oblivion (meaning the outdoor region).
  • 8 of 12: A bridge will be extending to connect the small citadel you're in to the other one.
  • 9 of 12: Cross the bridge so you can enter the other citadel's shrine and go straight for the geared batten that releases the second lock.
  • 10 of 12: This will retract the bridge connecting the two smaller citadels and extend bridges to connect each smaller citadel with the main one.
  • 11 of 12: Go down to a lower floor in the citadel you're in to find the door leading outside that gives you access to the newly extended bridge.
  • 12 of 12: Cross the bridge to find a door that will get you into the Brooding Fortress (the main citadel).
