How can I free Max?
1 of 14: You need to create a path between you and him.
2 of 14: You can slide the pieces in the space between the two of you using the arrows on the control panel.
3 of 14: The up and down arrows will only move the vertical pieces.
4 of 14: And the left and right arrows only move the horizontal ones.
5 of 14: If one piece is at the edge of the space, or if it's blocked by another, the arrow won't have any effect on it. But all of the free pieces will move.
6 of 14: It first might help to figure out where the pieces are and how you want to place them -- there's only one possible path given the constraints of the puzzle.
7 of 14: I recommend that you start by placing the vertical piece that leads to Max, and then you can put a horizontal piece just below it, so that it doesn't move when you press the up or down arrows.
8 of 14: You may also have to slide all of the pieces to one edge and then back again. If one piece is along the edge of the puzzle and you keep moving, you can get the relative positions of all of the pieces in the right place, and then move them back into the right absolute location as well.
9 of 14: Read ahead for one way of solving this puzzle from the initial position.
10 of 14: Go up three times, then left three times, and up once.
11 of 14: Then, move right seven times and left twice.
12 of 14: Move down twice, left four times, and right four times.
13 of 14: You can now reach Max.
14 of 14: To free him, look down, and throw the container you see just below him into either of the tubes.
