Omikron: The Nomad Soul Hints

Gun Fights

  • Because each player has a different style, it is impossible to tell you exactly how to fight.  The overall difficulty level of your game determines how hard it will be to overtake opponents.

    1) Stock up on Medikits and put them in your Sneak.  Use a Large one to boost Energy beforehand.  During the battle, you will be restored automatically from what is stocked in your Sneak.  Besides Energy, the only other characteristics that seem to matter during gun fights are Body Resistance and Speed.  Although there are magical items and potions to help boost those, they are hard to find.

    2) Make sure you have your best weapons and enough ammunition in your Sneak.  Advice: Store ammunition and weapons in the Multiplan and pull what you think you'll need out right before the fight.  This is especially important if you plan to switch bodies.  Don't retrieve weapons or ammo until after you have transferred.

    3) Early gun battles are intended for learning (the Supermarket, for instance).  The majority of the fights in Omikron have an "Auto-Save" feature, signified by 3 silver floating rings shown on the screen.  If you die during the battle, you will be able to try again as many times as you have Magic Rings.  To start from scratch, ESCape out, Quit, and Load a saved game.

    4) Buy an Activated Radar at a Gun Shop and have it in your Sneak before the sequence starts.  Enemies will be shown by little red dots on your screen.

    5) Use landmarks to shield you -- crouch behind large objects.  Creep slowly around corners.  Strafe back and forth and take shots.  Sneak up on your opponents.  If you can see your foe at a distance, aim and shoot.  The battle will end automatically -- either after all the enemies are defeated or you reach the intended goal.

    5) In at least one instance, you can go into an area unrecognized as an outsider.  Incarnate into someone who will blend in and go unnoticed.  Using this technique, you can delay the fighting until you cause them to notice you (by shooting first or other action).  To maneuver through an area without shooting, do not click your mouse!  Use the mouse for direction and the arrow keys to move.
