Tex Murphy: Overseer Hints

Some General Notes

  • 1) This hint file is structured in five days.  Although the game doesn't give such an indication, I had to do this due to the length of the file.  I hereby tried to keep groups of related actions together.

    Here's a short overview:
    - day two starts when Tex goes to the North Hill Clinic
    - day three starts when Tex goes to Val's Lab
    - day four starts when Tex inquires about Greg Call
    - day five starts when Tex goes to San Tomas Mission

    2) A good strategy to get most out of the game is to always look at items before picking them up or manipulating them.  Also, examine every item that goes into your inventory and every combination of inventory objects you create.

    3) When talking to other characters, always ask about everything.  Although this is often not necessary, you are certain that you get all information you need.

    4) In most conversations, the path you follow doesn't really matter.  In those rare cases where choosing the wrong response could prove to be lethal, I will provide you with a working conversational path.  I will use A, B, C, ... and so on to indicate which response you have to choose.

    5) These hints will work for both Entertainment and Gamer mode.  The main difference between the two modes is that you can't access the on-line hint system or skip over puzzles in Gamer mode and that all puzzles are timed -- with an extra point bonus if you manage to solve them within the time limit.  Don't count on getting maximum points by doing only the things mentioned in this file.  The hints are merely provided to help you get through the game.
