The Pandora Directive Hints

Putting theory into practice

  • 1 of 10: Now that we know what to do, the question remains how to do it.
  • 2 of 10: Examine Witt's puzzle box.  At the bottom are the four Mayan dates displayed. Underneath them are two bullets.  The left bullet indicates which date you are about to set.  The right one turns green if you solved the corresponding date.  On the top are two dials.  The left one gives modern dates, the right one gives Mayan dates.  In both cases the inner wheel changes the days, the outer wheel changes the months.  The set dials button is used to confirm your settings, and to jump to the next Mayan date symbol.
  • 3 of 10: The whole idea is to select a Mayan date symbol, set the corresponding Mayan date on the top right dial and the modern date on the top left dial.  Then press the set dials button and go on with the next symbol.
  • 4 of 10: If you have to do it in 184 for moves or less, you can just work from left to right.  Be careful though, you have to do everything correct from the first time.  This way you will need exactly 184 moves.
  • 5 of 10: The step by step solution is given in the next hint.
  • 6 of 10: 1. Set the left dial to September 8 and the right dial to Ahau 4.  Push the set dials button.
  • 7 of 10: 2. Set the left dial to May 20 and the right dial to Chuen 10.  Push the set dials button.
  • 8 of 10: 3. Set the left dial to April 17 and the right dial to Muluc 3.  Push the set dials button.
  • 9 of 10: 4. Set the left dial to July 12 and the right dial to Men 11.  Push the set dials button.
  • 10 of 10: The box opens and you can examine what's in it: there's device piece #3 and some onyx pieces.
