How do I start the furnace?

  • 1 of 13: To start the furnace, you need to do two things: give it something to burn, and fire up the pilot light.
  • 2 of 13: First the fuel. Where you entered this area, there's a huge pile of black stuff; let's pretend it's coal.
  • 3 of 13: Now all you need is a way to get it into the furnace, which is that huge cat-head thing in the other room.
  • 4 of 13: A shovel and a wheelbarrow would be ideal, if a little low tech, but you don't have either. Do you see evidence of a high-tech way to move the coal?
  • 5 of 13: In the room with the coal, there's a control panel, in the back at the right. Use that to load the coal.
  • 6 of 13: In general terms, the horizontal switch moves the cart, the vertical switch moves the coal scoop, and the buttons operate the scoop. Go nuts.
  • 7 of 13: Now you need to fire up the furnace by lighting the pilot light. Go to the other room and stand in front of the furnace, which will bring you into a close-up of it. (This can be a little confusing, since there's no hotspot here. Just click on the giant leopard head and Ann will go there.) If you've loaded in the coal, a little leopard-thing will pop up from the floor; this is the pilot light.
  • 8 of 13: First you need to give the pilot light some fuel -- liquid this time, not coal. What do you use to light your barbecue?
  • 9 of 13: There's a can of gasoline in a nearby room; check the map if you don't know where it is. Use the gas can on the funnel at the back of the little leopard's head.
  • 10 of 13: Now it's time to use that magic lighter again. Use it on the leopard's hand to give him a torch.
  • 11 of 13: Finally, we need to make the leopard shove that flame into the furnace. But how?
  • 12 of 13: Did you notice the two round impressions on his back? They look like bolts, but they're actually buttons.
  • 13 of 13: Push the right button, and then the left. Wow!
