Why won't anyone talk to me?
1 of 2: It's not that they won't talk to you, it's just that you can't understand them when they do, and vice versa.
2 of 2: Most of the Molgrave don't speak English and will answer you with hisses, whistles, and clicks. Leave them alone; you don't really need to talk to anyone but the Priest-Doctor, the Prince, and the Angler anyway.
