Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Hints
Full Case Synopsis
1 of 2: This section details the actual crime, and so, contains spoilers. Read this only after you've finished the case!
2 of 2: Fifteen years ago, a young Miles Edgeworth turned up at the district court to watch his father participate in a trial. In that trial, he faced up against Manfred von Karma, whose perfect trial record was dealt a blow by Gregory Edgeworth. Von Karma needed revenge, and later that day, it presented itself. After an earthquake, Edgeworth and his father found themselves trapped in an elevator with Yanni Yogi. After a struggle between the two men, young Miles threw Yogi's pistol (which had slipped from its holster), and it fired. The shot ricocheted out of the window of the elevator and coincidentally hit Manfred von Karma, who was standing outside. The elevator doors opened shortly thereafter, and von Karma, in pain and rage, shot Gregory Edgeworth in the heart, leaving the pistol on the floor of the elevator to incriminate either Yogi or Miles Edgeworth.
Forward to today, and the statute of limitations expiring on the DL-6 incident. Von Karma wanted even further revenge against the Edgeworth family, and used Yanni Yogi as a puppet to lure the attorney Robert Hammond out to Gourd Lake. Yanni Yogi shot the very man who had won him his freedom, then dressed up as him and met Miles Edgeworth out on the lake. He then fired two shots into the dark and leapt from the boat, leaving the pistol with Edgeworth. Edgeworth was arrested for the murder, and von Karma's plan was to convict Miles Edgeworth, sending him to prison for his own father's murder. Thankfully, due to Phoenix and Maya's heroic courtroom efforts, he was found innocent and von Karma was found guilty of his crimes.
