Full Case Synopsis
1 of 2: This section details the actual crime, and so, contains spoilers. Read this only after you've finished the case!
2 of 2: Joe Darke, a serial killer, was brought into the police station for questioning. Those investigating his case were Chief Gant, Lana Skye, Angel Starr, and Jake Marshall. During questioning, Darke fled the room and took Ema captive. Neil Marshall, Jake's brother, happened upon the scene and in the struggle, both he and Darke were knocked unconscious, as was Ema. Nobody was stabbed. Chief Gant turned up on the scene, and saw the opportunity to use Ema to exploit Lana through blackmail. He grabbed Neil Marshall's unconscious body and impaled him on the suit of armor, to make it appear that Ema pushed him. The handprint on Neil's shirt was from Ema's hand, but Gant grabbed that hand while she was unconscious and put it there himself, to add more proof to his lie.
Back in the present day, and Gant had been using this situation to blackmail Lana this whole time. He knew that Jake Marshall had been attempting to avenge his brother's murder, and knew he had to somehow silence those involved... Starr... Marshall... Goodman. Starr was fired, Marshall was seriously demoted... and Goodman was murdered. By Gant himself, who invited him to the Evidence Room. Gant then managed to move the body (along with some other evidence, no doubt), into the trunk of Edgeworth's car, while everybody else was distracted by the King Of Prosecutor's Award Ceremony. He then gave Edgeworth a trivial item, the screwdriver, as a means to make him drive his car (and the body) back to the Parking Lot.
Lana was, of course, in on all of this, and was waiting at the Parking Lot. She opened Edgeworth's trunk, and saw the SL-9 knife inside Goodman... the knife Gant used to stab him. She removed the knife, and stabbed him again with Edgeworth's knife from the car (to remove a link the Chief may have accidentally left to SL-9). This was the stabbing Angel Starr saw, although it was not a murder, as Goodman was already dead. Lana hid the SL-9 knife (the switchblade) inside the car's muffler, then tried to call Ema to let her know it was there, perhaps so she could move it later.
