Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow Hints
Tips
- Save the TMs you get. You may accidentally have discarded a TM which would have been very useful to you.
- Each Pokemon Box on someone's PC/Bill's PC can contain 20 Pokemon. The same goes for Pokemon Stadium. There are 12 boxes on your GB game, and the same number in Pokemon Stadium, for a maximum of 486 Pokemon, including your party. However, you will have to stick with the Pokemon you carry with you when you fill all boxes, unless you release a Pokemon.
- You can carry a maximum of 20 items with you. Your PC can hold 50 items. Pokemon Stadium can hold 100 items.
- Pokemon #150 can neither be seen or caught, until you are a Pokemon League Champ. Some rare Pokemon can also be caught in that cave, but they will have high levels, which makes them harder to catch. They won't learn many new attacks either, unless you use TMs and HMs.
- Your Pokedex does not count as an item.
- Save often. You never know when your batteries will be used up, or if you'll fail to catch a one-time only Pokemon. Or, if you're playing via Pokemon Stadium, if there will be an electrical failure.
- Always be on the lookout for items. You may find a Pokemon, a TM, or something else.
- You can become a Pokemon League Champ several times.
- For maximum playing pleasure, get Pokemon Stadium for the N64. Of course, it is not necessary, but it will help you to keep a eye on your Pokemon and items. It will also help you in finding Pokemon in buildings, since you can see exactly where you can find the Pokemon, how big a chance there is of meeting it, and what level it will have. Very useful if you want to find a Chansey or Kangaskhan.
- Use the Poke Flute, which can be received in Lavender Town, to wake sleeping Pokemon, both on the road, and in fights.
- Trade Pokemon when possible! Usually, you will get a rare Pokemon, which cannot be caught in the wild. This doesn't apply when trading with a friend.
