Prince of Persia: Warrior Within Hints

Maneuver Strategies: Figuring out where to go and how to get there

  • Throughout the game, you'll probably find yourself stuck in a room with seemingly no way out.  One of the ingenious yet frustrating aspects of Prince of Persia: Warrior Within is how the solutions to these puzzles blend into the scenery.  Don't overlook anything -- any rock, ledge, wall, pillar, or tree could be the key to moving forward.

When you enter a new area, use the first-person and landscape cameras to get different perspectives on the area.  While examining the area, keep an eye out for ledges sticking out of or recessed into the walls.  Look for smooth, round pillars or trees that you can climb.  Explore trees with thin branches that could be used as a beam or pole to swing from.  Look out for walls that you can climb on top of.

If you see a rope, ledge, beam, or pole but can't get there, search for a wall nearby that you may be able to run up or across.  Walls you can run across are sometimes marked with a lightly worn path across them for you to follow.

If you still can't find a way to get somewhere, look for any switches or some sort of other device that could alter the area.  Also, keep in mind that some areas may have multiple exits, yet you're usually capable of getting to only one at any given time.  Just because you can't get to a particular exit doesn't mean there's no other way out.

The most important things to remember are your maneuvers.  It's easy to overlook a solution because you're not thinking of a certain maneuver at a certain time.  If you see a wall, think about what you can get to by running up or across it.  If you see two walls close together, you may be able to rebound off one, then the other, and so on as you climb up.

If all else fails and you can't get somewhere you know you need to get to, jump for it -- it may just work.  Just make sure you have a batch of sand before you do so in order to Recall before you plummet into a bottomless pit.
