Prince of Persia: Warrior Within Hints
Combat Strategies: On the defensive
In any combat situation, defending yourself is of paramount importance. Enemies have a tendency to gang up on you in Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, so you'll need to defend yourself until an opportunity to attack presents itself. When it does, waste no time mounting an offensive of your own as payback.
Generally speaking, holding down the Guard button will keep you defended, usually from attacks on all sides, until you get a moment's relief. Even if you've been knocked down, you can defend yourself from most enemy attacks. Some attacks, however, can penetrate your guard and deal significant damage. As you progress through the game and water gets increasingly rare, you'll have to find a way to avoid these attacks, as well.
If holding the Guard button isn't enough to protect yourself, you'll need to dodge as well. While in combat, the Jump button offers a plethora of dodging abilities, even while guarding. By holding the control stick/directional keys in a certain direction, you can dodge in that direction. Use this ability to not only escape enemy attacks, but to do so without plummeting off of a cliff.
Once you're out of the fray, use what little time you've bought yourself to escape or, better yet, counterattack. After all, sometimes the best defense is a good offense.
