The Orange Box: Portal Hints
What's the best way to take these turrets down?
1 of 13: The first two turrets are facing each other, and are both setting on metal-covered flooring next to metal-covered walls.
2 of 13: If you go over to the window that's beside the nearest one, you can move around and look up to see that there are big red X's painted on the concrete ceiling right above both of the turrets.
3 of 13: There are also two large storage cubes lying around nearby. Get the idea yet?
4 of 13: Duck around the corner next to the big window just long enough to fire a blue portal at the red X that's on the ceiling over the nearest turret. You should be able to do this easily without getting killed.
5 of 13: Then open an orange portal in a nearby wall and carefully drop a cube through it so that it'll knock the turret over. Don't fall through the portal yourself, though.
6 of 13: Now go peek around the corner in the other direction long enough to fire a blue portal at the red X that's over the other nearby turret. It's a little harder to get right, so you'll probably get shot up a bit, but that's okay as long as you don't get killed.
7 of 13: After you've cube-dropped that turret, you've got two more to worry about in the room that's just past it.
8 of 13: You could try the cube-drop routine on those two, but there are two much easier ways.
9 of 13: Go get the storage cube that you dropped on the first turret and hold it squarely (pun intended) in front of you as you crouch-walk toward the nearest of the two turrets.
10 of 13: It'll fire at you, but if you're crouch-walking and holding the cube in front of you like you should, you probably won't take any hits.
11 of 13: Keep crouch-walking toward the turret until the cube you're holding pushes it over.
12 of 13: Then do the same thing to the other turret, which will be even easier since it can't see you.
13 of 13: The other way to handle them is to peek around the corner and fire a blue portal onto a wall behind the turrets, then go use your orange portal to get in behind them. It'll then be easy to pick them up and throw them down without getting shot.
