The Orange Box: Portal Hints
How can I get past the fences unshot?
1 of 9: The turret past the first fence is facing you, so be careful when looking through the open door for possibilities.
2 of 9: Notice that the walls past the fence aren't metal-coated.
3 of 9: Also note that you can fire portals through the fence.
4 of 9: So carefully crouch-walk over to where you can see part of the room's back wall through the door, but the turret can't see you.
5 of 9: Fire a blue portal at the back wall, then use your nearby orange portal (or make a new one) to get in behind the turret.
6 of 9: After knocking it over, look into the room past the next fence.
7 of 9: That turret is facing away from you, and the room has portal-friendly walls, so use that to your advantage.
8 of 9: Fire an orange portal at a wall as close to the fence as you can. That way, you can go through your nearby blue portal and knock the turret over before it can see you.
9 of 9: Or you can pick it up and carry it into the nearby elevator's force field to vaporize it. (You can use your portals to also do this with other turrets, though it's not at all useful -- just fun.)
