The Orange Box: Portal Hints
How can I use the portal gun to leave this chamber?
1 of 8: Try aiming it at a wall and firing it.
2 of 8: When you do that, a blue portal will appear on the wall.
3 of 8: Note that this won't always work -- there'll have to be an orange portal already open somewhere in order for the blue portal to open. (If there is no orange portal, the blue portal will form, but will be all dark and murky instead of opening to allow you passage.)
4 of 8: In this case, there is an orange portal already open, so open a blue portal in any wall.
5 of 8: Do make it close enough to the floor that you can walk or jump through it.
6 of 8: Or make the portal in the floor so you can just drop into it.
7 of 8: NOTE: You can "shoot" a camera with a blue portal in order to sever its connections. You can then destroy it utterly by picking it up and carrying it through an object-destroying force field. This isn't useful, but it is fun (and achievement-related).
8 of 8: Go through a blue portal to get up onto the ledge with the exit elevator.
