The Orange Box: Portal Hints
Piston Area #1
1 of 9: This is the large room with five huge pistons in an X pattern slamming against the ceiling.
2 of 9: Your goal is to get up to the opening that's near the ceiling in the back wall of the room.
3 of 9: There are a couple of ways to do this.
4 of 9: One way is to jump onto the central piston and ride it up to where you can see into the opening you're going for.
5 of 9: Toss an orange portal onto the opening's back wall, then ride the piston back down to the floor. (This one doesn't slam against the ceiling, though it's a close thing.)
6 of 9: Open a blue portal in any wall, then step through.
7 of 9: There is a longer way that involves the other opening in the room -- the one that's much closer to floor level, but that still can't be jumped into directly.
8 of 9: You could ride the central piston up to where you can jump into this opening, then climb the stairs that are past it.
9 of 9: But all that'll do is get you to a spot where you can toss a portal at the back wall of the higher opening that you're going for. You might as well just ride the central piston all the way up as suggested above.
