The Orange Box: Portal Hints
How can I get a cube onto that button safely?
1 of 7: By first using other cubes to block the turrets from shooting you while you're moving from the doorway to the button.
2 of 7: To start with, ferry all of the other cubes in the cube room to a spot on either side of the button room's doorway. You probably won't need them all, but it'll be good to have them handy just in case.
3 of 7: Move your blue portal onto the red X on the ceiling that's near the big button.
4 of 7: Carefully drop a cube through the orange portal so that it lands directly between the big button and the turret that's nearest it.
5 of 7: That's enough by itself to make it fairly safe for you to carry a cube over to the button, but you might want to do a few more ceiling-drops with your spare cubes.
6 of 7: When you're ready, take a cube over and drop it on the big red button, then quickly back out of the room in case some of the turrets can still shoot you.
7 of 7: NOTE: You could probably manage this without dropping any cubes into the button room, but it'd be a lot riskier.
