The Orange Box: Portal Hints
How can I get an orb into receptor #3?
1 of 13: This receptor is way at the back of the area, past two button-opened doors.
2 of 13: Checking out the receptor area, you'll see that *both* of the door buttons are up on ledges next to the second door now.
3 of 13: There's no way you can get up onto a button without using something as a "stepping stone."
4 of 13: Fortunately, that something doesn't have to be your companion sphere.
5 of 13: A security camera will work just fine.
6 of 13: Go use portals to knock the camera off the wall near the entrance to receptor #1's room.
7 of 13: Carry the camera back to the button platforms and drop it on the floor next to one of them. (It's too bad that no amount of cameras will weight down a button.)
8 of 13: You'll then be able to jump up onto the button's platform from on the camera.
9 of 13: Now that that's set up, put the companion sphere on the other button, then go set up your orb-redirecting portals.
10 of 13: After getting back up onto the lift room's upper ledge, go fire a blue portal down at the black mark that's at the end of the first energy orb corridor.
11 of 13: Return to the lift room and put the orange portal on the large extended wall section that faces the receptor and its doors.
12 of 13: Making sure the energy orb doesn't hit you, go over to where you dropped the security camera and use it to get up onto the other red button.
13 of 13: All you have to do then is wait there until an orb goes into the receptor.
