The Orange Box: Portal Hints
How can I get to the door's ledge?
1 of 14: Looking across at the three-dot ledge, you'll see that there's no way you could possibly get over to it.
2 of 14: So look a ways down and a bit to the right of it.
3 of 14: Do you see that large block that's sticking out from the metal wall just to the right of the three-dot ledge's right-most support pistons?
4 of 14: You need to use portals to get onto that block.
5 of 14: Fire a blue portal so that it appears in the wall next to the block. The bottom of the portal should be about even with the top of the block.
6 of 14: Put an orange portal on the floor of your platform, and very slowly crouch-walk through it.
7 of 14: Hopefully, you'll be able to stay on the block when you reach it instead of falling off and into the toxic water below.
8 of 14: Once you're on the block, stand up and look around.
9 of 14: Looking through the piston supports of the three-dot ledge, you should be able to see a bit of concrete wall.
10 of 14: Fire an orange portal onto that wall, then turn and walk through the blue portal to get to a small un-numbered ledge.
11 of 14: Carefully crouch-walk to the corner of the ledge that's nearest the three-dot ledge, then stand up and look around.
12 of 14: From there, you should be able to see the extended wall section that's above the button-opened door's ledge.
13 of 14: Fire an orange portal onto that wall section, then shoot a blue portal in the wall next to your ledge.
14 of 14: Slowly walk through the blue portal, and you'll drop down onto the door's ledge.
